We're in India!!

Here is finally some blogging in english, so all my American friends can follow us on this amazing trip. Right now we are in a rather small city named Udaipur. It has around 500 000 inhabitants, compared to Mumbai, where we stayed the first days, which has more than 20 000 000 people living there.
So, getting here was quite interesting. It is a national holiday in India this weekend, and everyone wants to travel. We couldn't get on a train so we had to catch a bus, which is not recommended for foreign travelers. But we had no choice, want to see more of India before we leave again. 2 weeks is really not enough time here! As we were getting comfortable in out bus beds (it was a 21 h long ride) a danish guy came and took the bed right next to us, which was a huge relieve cos it was only Indians there besides the 3 of us. Everything seemed to go smoothly and we were starting to feel comfortable and liking the bus, why is this so bad? Well, we figured that one out later in the night. As we stopped to have a snack around 10, this weird guy was standing outside the bus and watched us while he said something in Hindu. Tora, my friend said hi to him after a while and we just walked away. Then suddenly he was on the bus, right next to her face and before I had time to think I yelled as loud I could: NEI!!!!! (no) and he ran out again. Saved for this time, but he had actually entered the bus and walked all the way to our sleeper in the far back. We closed all our windows, curtains and "doors" and sat there in shock till we drove of and we were sure he didn't come along. We got out our sleep bags some hours and went to bed. I was sleeping closest to the window, and Tora by the door. I woke up when Tora called my name. A local guy was standing next to her, he had opened our sleeper and woken her up by touching her face and stomach... He just wanted to talk and wondered it we wanted to come out in the mid section to talk. Anyways, it was almost 3 in the night and we wanted to sleep and we told him to leave, which he did after we asked him 10 times and promised him that we would talk in 4 hours, just to get him to leave. He came back 1 hour later and woke us up again, and this time he was creepy! We asked him to go away immediately, but he started talking about how cold it was up front in his seat and we were so beautiful and he just wanted to be with us, and so on. We were getting scared and was sitting up yelling to him cos it was boiling in my head and he did not want to leave!!!! As a savior sent from above the Danish wakes up and grabs the kid and tells him to get the heck away and leave the girls alone. God knows what would have happened if he wasn't on that bus. Now I know why girls are said to travel with a boy in India. As you probably understand we didn't sleep much more that night.
We made it safely to Udaipur and got some time to recover and laugh about the situation, we can't go around and think about that for the rest of our stay.
Now I should say a little about our first meeting with the country and our first days here. Arrived at 2 AM and just wanted to return back home. We were prepared for a cultural shock, but it was so much worse that we expected it to be. Whole families were sleeping on the streets, the pollution was horrible, dirt everywhere and our hotel was in the middle of the boonies. Luckily we met Nick from Australia on the airport and we went to meet up with him in Mumbai centrum the next day. Met two British girls in the morning at the hotel, their first night also and they were as lost as us. Told them about Nick and we went on the train to Mumbai all together. We made it almost that far. The thing is that the trains here don't wait for people to get on, they just drive of without any warning... That resulted in 3 of us getting on the train and the fourth fell of. Her friend jumped of and Tora and I was caught on the train that was moving way too fast now. Omg, what should we do, is she ok!? We took the train to centrum and waited, hoping they would come. Luckily they did, and they were both fine. Learned our lesson for that day... We met up with Nick, he found us a great hostel and showed us around for the day, it was great and we started to like India. You just have to tink that it's never gonna be like home, and there is poor and rich living right next to each other and there are many beggars and crazy traffic. The next day we were asked to be back ground people in an Indian tv show called "The Country Where my Heart Belongs." We were supposed to be Canadian and I had to dress like a slut in short, short dress. First they tried to get me in a mini skirt size 1... Yea right, my but is a bit bigger that! And this other girl from America had to wear a short skirt together with me and we walked up and down those college stairs behind the stars, carrying our books for 5 hours. But it was tons of fun and we laughed so hard over their impression of college students! We earned Rs 500 each and went out to dinner. Had delicious local food named Dal. The food here is good, you just have to know what to choose.
That was a small summary of our 5 days that seems to have been many weeks! Hopefully I'll have more time to update the blog in english every now and then :)
